Dayton Salute to Detective Jorge Del Rio No. 11

The Story:           In protecting the Dayton area from criminal activity, Detective Jorge Del Rio passed away while serving its people.  As many know, Dayton loves its heroes and when faced with tragedy, its people always find a classy and resilient response to heart-breaking news.  On this twilight evening and under spectacular skies, Dayton saluted Detective Del Rio by illuminating the city in blue hues.

The Rest of the Story:  For those calling Dayton home, 2019 was a tough year.  Memorial Day of 2019 is forever known for its Memorial Day tornados when a series of tornados tore up the Miami Valley, including one EF-4 that hit Dayton particularly hard.  A few months later, a mass shooting took place in the city’s treasured Oregon District.  An even larger tragedy was averted by a nearby Dayton Police squad who responded and ended the event 30 seconds after the terror started.   Then, towards the end of 2019, Dayton Police and a team of DEA agents raided a suspected drug dealer house where Dayton Police Detective Jorge Del Rio lost his life.  In each event, the people of Dayton responded in heartfelt ways that gave this city class.

Although I had recently moved back to Dayton 18 months before, I’ve visited Deeds MetroPark on several occasions during colorful twilights.   This evening did not disappoint with a wildly vivid sunset (see Dayton Salute to Detective Jorge Del Rio No. 7).  After that exciting ending, I dwelled at Deeds Point and captured this peaceful Dayton nightscape.  If you like this scene, check out my Dayton Skyline Art Prints.  This gallery has a host of pretty Dayton Sunsets and Dayton Twilights.
