Aviation Memorial Art Prints

Between growing up in Dayton, Ohio, and flying for 24 years in the USAF, I’ve come across a number of aviation memorials.  Many in this gallery pertain to the Wright Brothers, while others are a tribute to great airmen such as Neil Armstrong, Dominic Salvatore Gentile, Airman 1st Class William H. Pitsenbarger, and a host of individuals and groups.

Wright Brothers Memorials and Sculptures

This gallery feature a host of sculptures and memorials dedicated to Wilbur and Orville Wright.  These memorials reside in the Historic Huffman District, Wright-Patterson AFB, Legacy Plaza at Deeds MetroPark, Wright Brothers Memorial, and a host of Dayton Aviation Trail sites.  

Piqua Ohio Aviation Memorials

Piqua, Ohio served as home for a couple of aviation legends.  William H. Pitsenbarger grew up in Piqua.  I even met a woman who called him Billy from the days she lived across the street from him.  He is memorialized on every US Air Force Installation, but his hometown has installed a life-size, bronze sculpture of William Pitsenbarger at the entrance of Pitsenbarger Park and Sports Complex.  The City has also installed plaques at the Piqua Veteran’s Memorial Park.  Near the center of town, an additional memorial recognizes Dominic Salvatore Gentile (the One Man Air Force).

These art prints feature sculptures honoring several of Ohio's great aviators under interesting skies.  Many of them reside along the Dayton Aviation Trail which lies within the Miami Valley.
