Armstrong Air & Space Museum

Opening in 1972, the Armstrong Air and Space Museum resides in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and celebrates the accomplishments of Neil Alden Armstrong.  Ohio, and particularly Wapakoneta, wanted to celebrate the first man on the moon, so the city through a series of fundraising events matched by the Ohio Governor raised the money to build a museum that pays tributes to another Ohio hero.
