Fort Recovery Monument No. 8
The Story: One hundred years after the defeat of the forces under General Arthur St. Clair, the city of Fort Recovery, Ohio, as well as the nation, began to formally recognize the history made on this spot. With the recovery of 1,200 soldier’s remains, President William Howard Taft signed a bill for the building of a monument in Fort Recovery. The obelisk is known as the Fort Recovery State Memorial. Today, the monument celebrates the heroic soldiers who served during the defeat of Arthur St. Clair and the victory of Anthony Wayne.
