Panorama of Dayton Skyline During a Late Summer Twilight

The Story:          Another perfect Miami Valley evening where the Great Miami River took on a mirror finish as mid-level clouds hung over the area. As twilight deepened, the city lights became more prominent as the passing clouds took on surprising pink and purple hues.

The Rest of the Story:  I almost missed capturing this purple Dayton Skyline scene.  I’ve learned that lower stormy clouds don’t catch the light as well as higher cirrus clouds.  Noting that clear skies were over Indiana, I thought I’d head out to give it a whirl.  As it turns out, I am so happy I pressed ahead.  On this particular evening I captured three scenes that served as a popular Daytonscapes.  I arrived while the sun was still above the horizon and capture a print titled Glowing Fountain of Light Spray, Dayton Ohio No. 1.  With the fountain display ending and the sun below the horizon, walked over to another view of RiverScape MetroPark.   With the sun just below the horizon, I created a 49-image panorama which depicts a very orange Dayton Skyline (Panorama of Dayton Skyline During a Late Summer Sunset).  After experiencing a colorful sunset that filled the skies of the Miami Valley, I dwelled at this same spot.  If one is patient, there is a second sweet spot where twilight deepens and the colors become a little cooler and contrast nicely with the warm office lights of the Gem City.  As the pink and purple colors emerged, I created another 49-image panorama which fortuitously matched the art print captured a few minutes earlier.

If you are seeking Dayton Office Art or wall decor that offers colorful Daytonscapes be sure to check out these Dayton Skyline art prints.  If you are seeking Dayton webpage art or a background image for your social media page that celebrates life in Dayton, I can license the image for subsequent use.

Paired Prints:    Sometimes a print naturally pairs with another. Frequently, I’ve captured an image from the same location but under varying lighting conditions or during a different time of year.  In this case, I captured the paired print about 20 minutes before this scene:
