Another One of Ripley Ohio's famous residents was Charles Young.   Due to his Ripley Ohio education, his high academic scores let to him being the third African American to graduate from West Point.  After serving as a Buffalo Solider, Spanish American War, he became the military instructor at Wilberforce University where his home now serves as the Charles Young Buffalo Soldier National Monument.
