Carillon Historical Park Art Prints
Rising above the trees just south of downtown, Carillon Historical Park centers around one of Dayton’s most recognizable landmarks… the Deeds Carillon. Commissioned by Colonel and Mrs. Edward Deeds and gifted to the community in 1942, the 151-foot bell tower houses Ohio’s largest carillon, with 57 bells that continue to ring across the Miami Valley. Today, the tower anchors a 65-acre historical park where architecture, gardens, and open sky come together in scenes that feel both timeless and deeply rooted in place.
A Dayton Landmark Preserving Local History
- Carillon Historical Park preserves the story of Dayton through more than 30 historic buildings, restored structures, and artifacts that reflect the region’s legacy of innovation and community life. Landmarks throughout the park create layers of visual and historical interest.
- Deeds Carillon: The park’s signature bell tower and a defining feature of the Dayton skyline.
- Hawthorn Hill: The former home of Orville Wright, representing Dayton’s aviation heritage.
- Patterson Homestead: A preserved early home offering insight into Dayton’s frontier roots.
- Wright Brothers National Museum: Home to an extraordinary collection of Wright brothers artifacts.
- Historic Dayton buildings and exhibits: Structures that honor the city’s industrial, transportation, and cultural milestones.
The Carillon as Dayton’s Tree of Light
In Miami Valley Christmas tradition, and with the support of Connie and John Taylor, the park now decorates the carillon with 20,000 lights forming Ohio’s tallest tree of lights. It’s frequently called the Christmas Tree of Light or the Dayton Tree of Light where its glow complements the Dayton skyline and thrills travelers passing through along I-75. Against winter skies, the illuminated carillon blends history and celebration… a beacon that connects past and present while bringing warmth and light to the cityscape. These seasonal scenes are among the most requested images, offering a sense of home, tradition, and shared community memory.
Fine Art Photography Rooted in Dayton Pride
Carillon Historical Park offers rich opportunities for fine art photography throughout the year. The strong vertical lines of the Carillon, framed by gardens, trees, and open lawns, create balanced compositions that shift beautifully with the seasons. Spring blossoms, summer greens, autumn color, and winter light all transform the scene while the tower remains a constant symbol of Dayton’s heritage.
For healthcare environments, professional spaces, and homes, Carillon art prints provide a powerful sense of place without overwhelming the room. The landmark’s familiar silhouette and peaceful surroundings foster connection, pride, and calm… bringing Dayton’s history and beauty into everyday life.
