Aullwood Garden MetroPark traces its story to John and Marie Aull, whose home and gardens became one of the Miami Valley’s treasured public landscapes. John Aull purchased the riverside property in the early 20th century, and Marie Aull’s lifelong dedication to gardening, conservation, and environmental education shaped the gardens that visitors still enjoy today.
In 1977, Marie Aull donated the garden property to Five Rivers MetroParks, ensuring that the landscape would be preserved for future generations. She continued living at Aullwood until her death in 2002, tending and loving the place that had become so closely tied to her life. The historic Aull House and surrounding gardens now stand as a lasting reminder of her generosity, stewardship, and belief that gardens could teach, heal, and inspire.
