Ox-eye Sunflower

Ox-Eye Sunflowers (Heliopsis helianthoides) are always a delight to find.  They are part of the aster family (Asteraceae) and are known by a host of other names such as Smooth Oxeye, Oxeye Sunflower, and False Sunflower.  The flowers have yellow petals surrounding the yellow center that possesses a sunflower-like disk.  The images of these Ox-eye Sunflowers all come from parks and fields located in Greene County, Ohio.
