Beavercreek
History of Beavercreek Ohio
Beavercreek, Ohio resides in Greene County, Ohio, and near the larger Dayton, Ohio. Beavercreek Ohio is a city surrounded by a township of the same name. Early Beavercreek was defined by its picturesque farmland and its wetlands. Beavercreek held the first mill built north of Cincinnati, called Alpha Mill. New Germany was home to farmers of German descent and held blacksmith shops and stagecoach inn. There is a shallow ridge that separates the Beaver Creek from the Mad River which is known for growing fine fruits. Today, the city lies adjacent to Wright-Patterson AFB and Wright State University which are two institutions that define the city today.
Beavercreek Ohio Landmarks
Some of these parks are part of the City of Beavercreek Parks, Recreation & Culture, Beavercreek Township Park District Beavercreek, Greene County Parks and Trails or The Beaver Creek Wetlands Association (BCWA). My favored parks are:
- Phillips Park: One of many parks that is part of the BCWA that was purchased from the Phillips Family in 1990
- Siebenthaler Fen boardwalk: Named after a local landscape architect and nature lover, the boarded pathway leads visitors into one of the areas rich fens
- Beavercreek Wetlands Reserve: Part of the Greene County Parks and Trails it is also supported by the BCWA
- Dominick Lofino Park: A peaceful walking path that meanders through a 36-acre park named after a local shopping center owner
