Stubbs Park
Stubbs Park – A Hometown Treasure in Centerville, Ohio
Stubbs Park holds a special place in the heart of Centerville. The land was preserved with the community in mind—intended as a gathering place for generations to enjoy. Over the years, the park has grown into a cherished green space, blending small-town heritage with scenic beauty, right in the center of the city.
The park’s namesake was Leonard E. Stubbs. He became part of the Centerville community teaching American and current history at Centerville High School. He was elected to city council in 1971becoming a champion of the city’s bike paths. He passed away at 39 years old from battling cancer. During this time, the city was planning to name their new park after a city founder, Benjamin Archer, but upon Leonard’s passing, the city saw fit to call it Stubbs Park.
