Monkey House, Centerville Ohio No. 3

The Story:      An icon of Centerville, Ohio lies in the Monkey House.  About 1930, Edwin Earl Miller built this hexagonal two-story building and decided to house monkeys in the structure to attract customers to his general store.  The publicity brought in customers from the surrounding area.  Upon his passing in 1985, the building was set aside as a fire department training opportunity, when many citizens set about preserving a cherished memory.  His wife donated the Monkey House to the city and a local fund drive raised funds to relocate the building to Stubbs Park where it resides today.
