Earl Miller’s Monkey House, Stubbs Park on Spring Day No. 1
The Story: At the entrance of Leonard E. Stubbs Memorial Park in Centerville, Ohio lies a fanciful hexagonal structure called Earl Miller’s Monkey House. According to Centerville-Washington History, the 1930s structure served as a general store that once held monkeys to attract customers, earning the owner the nickname Monkey Miller. With his passing in 1985, the city set to raze the landmark. The historical society credits Janet Thobaben and Tom Stolz for saving the iconic structure and moving it to its current location. Traditionally, the building was painted beige with brown accents. In 2022, the park reversed the colors as captured on this spring day.
