Franklin
History of Franklin Ohio
Franklin is a classic Ohio town that started as a settlement along the Great Miami River in 1796. The town’s early history is tied to General William C. Schneck who surveyed the area that year and in 1803 moved his family to Franklin, Ohio. Since he surveyed the area, he also named the town…after Benjamin Franklin. The general’s brother John N. C. Schneck was the first postmaster. According to the city’s website, their offspring made equally inspiring contributions to the United States.
