Park Avenue Viewpoint, Arches National Park
The Story: If New York City’s Park Avenue was converted to red sandstone, this viewpoint captures the essence of the concept. This is a panorama of the Park Avenue Viewpoint in Arches National Park, near Moab, Utah. This is the first feature visitors encounter upon entering the park. For me, I hadn’t felt compelled to stop as I passed by during previous mornings and evenings. However, on this 105-degree day, I noted the unique zenith position of the sun producing light that raked down both walls of the rock formation creating an intriguing contrast over the Entrada Sandstone.
