Benham's Grove

Nestled in the heart of Centerville, Benham’s Grove stands as a testament to the city's rich heritage. Originally part of a 50-acre farm owned by Aaron Nutt, one of Centerville's founding fathers, the land changed hands several times before Joseph A. Benham, a prominent local merchant, acquired it in 1844.  Benham constructed the current farmhouse around 1885, embodying the functional elegance of Victorian-era architecture.  Over the years, the property served various purposes, including poultry farming and family gatherings. In 1991, the City of Centerville purchased and renovated the estate, reopening it in 1992 as a cherished community gathering place. 

Landmarks of Benham’s Grove:

• The Gerber House – This beautifully restored Victorian farmhouse offers eight elegantly decorated rooms, a working fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen, making it ideal for intimate gatherings and events.
• The Barn – A rustic yet refined space that provides a charming setting for receptions, parties, and community events.
• Gazebo and Gardens – Surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens, the gazebo serves as a picturesque spot for weddings and photo opportunities.
• Upcoming Event Center – Set to debut in 2025, a new 6,000-square-foot event center will enhance the venue's capacity, featuring modern amenities while preserving the site's historic charm.
