Flooded Remnants of Caesar Creek
The Story: The Army Corps of Engineers dammed Caesar Creek in response to the Flood Control Act of 1938. Prior to this work, the area hosted dry land and even a Quaker Village. Today, the reservoir stores storm waters until engineers can release its waters in a controlled fashion. As a result, the reservoir fills formerly wooded lands as captured in this late autumn scene. On this dreary evening, dark clouds hung over the reservoir so I selectively desaturated the surrounding scene in order to draw the eye toward the red leaves.
