West Liberty
Celebrating West Liberty, Ohio: An Introduction
West Liberty, Ohio started as a gristmill built along the Mad River in 1816. The town of West Liberty reports that the area’s settlers would visit the mill, which led to a store north of the mill. Next came a hotel and then a post office. By 1834, West Liberty was incorporated as a town. The town was lost to a massive fire in 1880. Even today, the town marks every May 13th with its annual fire sale. The town remains a quintessential small town located in Logan County, known for its rich history, charming community, and picturesque landscapes. The drive to West Liberty entails geology that was untouched by glaciers and consists of large rolling hills not normally enjoyed in Western Ohio.
