The Story: Neil Armstrong grew up in Wapakoneta, Ohio (Auglaize County). In 1972, the Armstrong Air & Space Museum opened to celebrate his career and for being the first man on the Moon. At the end of the pathway delineated with blue taxiway lights resides the second sculpture of Neil Armstrong. This bronze statue depicts Armstrong as a test pilot and was unveiled by its sculptor, Chas Fagan on 14 July 2019, 50 years after Armstrong’s historic launch.
