Ox-Eye Sunflower, Morris Reserve No. 12
The Story: On land which once served as a family farm, Morris Reserve now serves the Bellbrook, Ohio area as a tallgrass prairie. A popular summer wildflower in the part is this Ox-eye Sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides). It thrives in Green County’s clay soils and displays bright yellow flowers. The species is also known as Smooth Oxeye, Oxeye Sunflower, and False Sunflower. On this summer evening, the Ox-eye Sunflower basked in the warm evening light.
