Moonlit Geyser Basin Under a Planetary Conjunction, Yellowstone National Park

The Story:      Lingering in Yellowstone National Park well after twilight, we discovered this ethereal scene where the moonlight paints the rising geothermal steam from the Midway Geyser Basin. The Catfish Geyser and the River Geyser occupy the left side of this panorama image, while the Grand Prismatic Spring and Excelsior Geyser reside on the right. The two bright objects at right are Jupiter and Venus forming a planetary conjunction underneath the constellation Leo (whose stars form a backward question mark above Venus and Jupiter).
