Incorruptible Cashier Sculpture

The Story:      On the long list of Dayton, Ohio inventors resides James Ritty. He was a saloon owner and grew weary of dishonest employees, so he patented what became the forerunner of today’s cash registers. The sculpture is one among seven which form the Dayton Inventors River Walk. This statue along Patterson Boulevard and Dayton’s Canal District pays tribute to his invention and the industry it spawned under the name National Cash Register.
