Tower of Voices, Flight 93 National Memorial No. 4

The Story:      Among the rolling hills of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the Flight 93 National Memorial features a modern design and evokes a host of emotions.  Upon entering the memorial, the first structure visitors encounter is the Tower of Voices.  Like the park, the tower is full of symbolism.  It’s a 93-foot-high musical instrument with 40 wind chimes, one for each passenger and crew member.  The tower is surrounded by a series of concentric circles formed by benches and pathways that may be interpreted as resonating sound waves.
