Sunset Over Voice of America MetroPark Lake No. 4
The Story: The Voice of American MetroPark lies near Mason, Ohio, in West Chester Township. The 435-acre facility once hosted the Voice of America’s Bethany Relay Station. As American WWII enemies espoused misinformation and propaganda, the US used the towers to counter the message and put forth updates on the American war efforts. The area’s flat land and geographic position made the park an ideal broadcast platform, even as the US entered the Cold War. As the Cold War ended the land was deeded as a park, where today it offers jogging trails, fishing lakes and birding opportunities.
