Cowan Lake State Park Dock at Sunset
The Story: Cowan Lake State Park was once home to the Miami and Shawnee Indians and is named for a pioneer surveyor, John Cowan. The state constructed a dam across Cowan Creek in 1950 forming a 1,000-acre park which the stated designated in 1968. On this evening, the lingering end-of-summer clouds remained high enough to catch the sun’s rays starting well below the local horizon.
