Oak Grove Park – A Community Gift Preserved

Oak Grove Park encompasses more than 102 acres of preserved farmland in the heart of Centerville. In 1994, John and Martha Sukola chose to protect their land for public enjoyment rather than allow development to reshape it. They sold 101 acres to the Centerville-Washington Park District and donated the contents of their barns to the local Historical Society… a decision that shaped one of the community’s most beloved gathering places. An additional acre was added in 2008, and local organizations helped fund shelters and amenities that reflect Centerville’s shared investment in outdoor recreation.

Today, the park balances open fields, active recreation, and quiet natural space. Soccer fields, walking paths, and playgrounds draw families throughout the day… while the pond and surrounding grasses offer moments of stillness as evening approaches.
