Sunset Over Bellbrook Ohio No. 2

The Story:      Park managers at Morris Reserve, near Bellbrook Ohio, restored 100 acres of farmland back to a tallgrass prairie.  In this late spring sunset, a super bloom of Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia hirta) and Lance-leaf Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata) mimic the rays emanating from the setting sun as varying cloud layers refract light in differing levels of brightness.

Description

A patch of Black-eyed Susans basking in the evening light while mimicking the rays from the setting sun

In creating peaceful green spaces throughout Sugarcreek Township, the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Park District restored this former farm field back to a native tallgrass prairie. Over the preceding weeks, unique weather conditions produced a super bloom where Morris Reserve exploded in color. In this late spring sunset, the light warmly illuminated the Black-eye Susans which in turn seemed to mimic the rays from the setting sun.
