Oakwood Ohio Daffodils on Spring Day No. 6
The Story: Each spring, 160,000 daffodils reach peak bloom at this home in Oakwood, Ohio. Wanting to offer the Miami Valley a sense of awe, John and MJ Gray started planting daffodil bulbs many years ago at a rate of about 10,000 a year. While capturing images of the spectacle, I met visitors who had traveled two hours to witness the rolling hills carpeted in yellow flowers. On this perfect spring Day, I shared the view with members of the Dayton Area Plein Air who set up their easels and paints to capture the property’s many intimate compositions under the midday sun.
