Morris Reserve Twinleaf Wildflower No. 4
The Story: The Twinleaf is a rare and desirable perennial wildflower which fortunately populates Morris Reserve, near Bellbrook, Ohio. Scientists labeled this plant Jeffersonia diphylla, in honor of Thomas Jefferson. The Twinleaf is a protected species in several states due to its threatened status. Native Americans used various parts to fix a host of digestive system ailments. Along with the fragile flowers which stand above the Spring forest floor, many frequently describe the leaves as taking on the shape of angel wings. Another fact which makes Twinleafs so special lies in the only bloom for about three days a year, as captured in this image.
