Dayton Art Institute Facade in Morning Light No. 3
The Story: The Dayton Art Institute’s current building was built in 1928 thanks to the donation of Julia Shaw Patterson Carnell. She hired architect Edward Brodhead who designed the façade after the Villa Farnese in Italy. Over the years, the museum’s Grand Staircase fell in disrepair and eventually had to close. In 2019, the DAI undertook the long-awaited repairs. This image in 2021 captures the Dayton Art Institute Grand Staircase in its restored glory on a pretty June day.
