The Story:     Charles Young was an escaped slave who served as a US Army Buffalo Soldier later rising to the rank of colonel.  During his military career, he taught military science at Wilberforce University.  This structure served as his home during his years at Wilberforce and today is a National Monument under the National Park Service.
