Celebrating Orville Wright’s Propeller Research No. 2

The Story:     A bronze statue of Wilber Wright stands with an eight-foot propeller which pays tribute to the research he conducted on this site for 30 years. Highlighting one example of their work here, the Wright Brothers understood an airplane propeller required a different design from traditional ship propellers, thereby offering the world a more efficient means of propulsion. As this site was restored in 2003, Chase Bank donated the land, and John and Marna Bosch commissioned this sculpture from Bill Wolfe of Terre Haute, Indiana.
