Canal Lock Park, Huber Heights Ohio No. 3

The Story:      The Miami and Erie Canal provided a water route between Toledo and Cincinnati, Ohio. Started in 1825 and completed in 1845 it consisted of 103 canal locks which allowed boats to climb 395 feet above Lake Erie and 513 feet above the Ohio River. With the geographical peak being near Piqua, Ohio (Lockington Locks), this lock is the 18th lock south of this point and lies east of the Great Miami River in Huber Heights, Ohio.
