Black Covered Bridge, Oxford, Ohio

The Story:       Outside of Oxford, Ohio lies the Black Covered Bridge which spans the Four Mile (Talawanda) Creek. Built in 1868, the Pugh’s Mill Covered Bridge provided access to the mill owned by James B. Pugh. As the mill closed and since there was a white-covered bridge downstream, this bridge became known as the Black Covered Bridge. Today it serves as one of Ohio’s longest covered bridges and due to its 2000 restoration, it is expected to carry bike trail traffic for years to come.
