Clinton County Courthouse History and Ohio Architecture
The Clinton County Courthouse was dedicated on October 22, 1919, after the county determined in 1915 that a new courthouse was needed. The Cincinnati architectural firm of Weber, Werner & Adkins designed the building, which Ohio’s historical marker describes as a local masterpiece combining Beaux-Arts and Neoclassical styles. The courthouse and former jail cost nearly $370,000, replacing earlier courthouse buildings from Clinton County’s first century. Inside, a grand marble staircase, stained-glass dome, and murals representing Agriculture, Education, Medicine, and Industry reinforce the building’s role as both a civic center and a work of public art.
