Xenia Bike Station in Summer No. 3
The Story: As late as the 1960s, Xenia, Ohio hosted three railroads which crisscrossed the city. As the need for these rail lines waned, Greene County, Ohio became an early advocate for converting the railroads to recreational trails (rails-to-trails). Today, Xenia serves as a major hub for bicycle enthusiasts as 5 regional trails converge at this point giving the town the title of “Bicycle Capital of the Midwest”. This image features Xenia Station, which the city constructed in 1998 and serves as a museum and rest area for trail users.
