Springfield Museum of Art, Springfield Ohio No. 5

The Story:      The Springfield Museum of Art traces its formation in 1952 when it was known as the Springfield Art Association. As the organization matured, it grew from hosting exhibits in borrowed spaces to constructing its own space along Cliff Park Road in 1967. Due to continued success, the museum expanded again in 1973 and 1994. Today, the Springfield Museum of Art holds the American Association (now Alliance) of Museums accreditation and was accepted into the Smithsonian Affiliates program in 2012. On this early fall day, the museum’s courtyard and breezeway bask in warm light under blue September skies.
