Sidney Ohio Monumental Building
The Story: Following the Civil War, Sidney Ohio residents wanted to memorialize those who served our nation. Their efforts resulted in the construction of the Sidney Monumental Building in 1877. The intricate gothic revival facade features a Civil War soldier in the gabled center pediment that faces east which is called the Sgt Baker statue. Today the restored structure houses the Shelby County Veterans Services Commission and Sidney Municipal Court.
