Piqua’s Early African-American Heritage

The Story:      This historical marker celebrates Piqua’s Early African-American Heritage.  On one side, it memorializes Arthur Davis moving to Piqua in 1818 as starting Piqua’s African-American settlement. The opposite side highlights Goodrich Giles came the first local African-American to become a prominent employer who ran for public office in 1886.
