Indian Riffle Park During Spring Evening No. 2
The Story: Indian Riffle Park is a large park run by the City of Kettering, Ohio. Some might grow confused as the adjacent and similarly sounding Indian Ripple Road runs past the park. Shallow areas of a river which flows around exposed rock is called a “riffle”. The Indian portion seems to refer to the Shawnee who once hunted these lands. For many years, both the park and road went by Indian Riffle, but in the 1940s the city changed the road’s name to Indian Ripple. On this perfect spring evening, the trees surrounding Indian Riffle Lake are leafing out as cumulus clouds gently float by.
