Heirloom Sculpture at Snyder Park, Springfield Ohio No. 4
The Story: In 2020 and thanks to a donation by the Carleton Davidson Trust, Cincinnati sculptor, James Perkins created this 15-foot aluminum rose sculpture. The sculpture served two purposes, it fills a vacant spot that once hosted the Madonna of the Trail sculpture (now downtown) and it celebrates Springfield, Ohio’s nickname, the “Rose City”. The artwork titled; “Heirloom” serves as a tribute to the city which once produced more roses than other locations in the world. Today, the sculpture resides in Snyder Park along US 40 and serves as a welcoming piece for the new gardens and arboretum forming in the park.
