Fort Piqua Facade No. 8
The Story: The Fort Piqua Plaza is a historic hotel occupying an entire city block in Piqua, Ohio. The hotel was constructed using Richardsonian Romanesque-style architecture and opened in 1892. According to the Piqua Historic District documents, its construction inspired others in commissioning unique buildings for the next 20 years. The hotel was restored 100 years later and today holds the Piqua Public Library and the city’s event center. This image captures some of the intrinsic stonework in the plaza’s sandstone facade.
