The Story:     One of Sedona’s wonders lies in Bell Rock which lies along Highway 179 in Yavapai County. Rising five hundred feet into the blue sky, this distinctive rock formation is easily recognizable as a large bell. The Bell Rock Formation consists of a sandstone layer deposited 250 million years ago which over time turned red as hematite permeated its layers. Bell Rock is also famously known as one of Sedona’s vortex sites where ancient people as well as today’s visitors often report an upwelling of energy that aids in healing, meditation, and self-exploration.
