The Story: Dayton offers many attractions such as the network of trails throughout the Miami Valley. This image captures a couple spending their Saturday evening quietly taking in a Dayton sunset while sitting on the Great Miami River Recreation Trail looking upon kayak chutes of the Great Miami River Recreation Trail. They sheltered under a pavilion known as Founder Point. The five small puddles behind this couple emulate the footsteps of Catherine Van Cleve. As a young lady, she was the first settler to step foot in what became Dayton.
Years later, Catherine became the great-great-grandmother of Dayton’s famous sons…the Wright Brothers!
