Castle Rock and Navajo Point, Capitol Reef National Park

The Story:      A scenic drive along Utah Scenic Byway 24, also known as the Capitol Reef Scenic Byway. On this pretty evening, one sees Castle Rock with the higher Navajo Point in the distance. The Wingate formation serves as the cap rock and fractures vertically forming castle-like features. The Chinle Formation is denoted for its lighter-colored volcanic ash layer and the bottom red rocks are from the Moenkopi formation.
