Caesar Creek Storm Clearing No. 1
The Story: The day leading up to this sunset consisted of skies full of towering cumulus clouds and maturing thunderstorms. Arriving at Caesar Creek State Park Campground at sunset I found the western horizon retained some color, but nothing exciting due to distant clouds blocking the light. About the time I began to contemplate returning to my truck, I noted the shoreline around was painted in an orange cast, which drove me to look up and behind my initial subject. Despite the various cloud layers, the bottom of this cumulonimbus cloud caught sight of the setting sun and refracted light in the most amazing colors. I quickly leveled my tripod, attached my widest lens in portrait orientation, and took this series of 18 images in a panoramic sweep.
