Blue Hour Cumulonimbus Clouds, Morris Reserve No. 1

The Story:      A gentle start to a summer morning at Morris Reserve (Bellbrook, Ohio), where a distant thunderstorm over Caesar Creek produces a slight rumble over Greene County. The dawn light illuminates the prairie pathway lined by blooming grayhead coneflowers, wild bergamot, and black-eyed Susans.

The Rest of the Story:  On this summer morning, it was the rumbling sounds rolling over the Miami Valley which woke me from my slumber.  Realizing this was an isolated thunderstorm, I felt the odds were favorable for safely capturing a scene like this.  Light was starting to fill the eastern sky as I set up my tripod for a long exposure.  In addition to the Ohio wildflowers, I like this art print in how my camera captured the Taurus Constellation and Jupiter rising in the morning twilight.  Taurus appears as a greater than symbol on the far left of the scene and our solar system’s largest planet resides above the cloud on the upper right.
