Veteran’s Bridge, Springfield Ohio No. 4

The Story:     In 2016, the City of Springfield, Ohio revitalized its Fountain Street bridge over Buck Creek. Since the bridge served as the entrance to Veterans Park Memorial, the bridge is also known as the Veteran’s Bridge. Today, the bridge features impressive stonework which incorporated Roman stone columns from the city’s former Memorial Hall. Connecting bridge foot traffic to the Buck Creek Bike Trail lies this stone staircase featuring two miniature Desert Storm-era soldiers carved from stone. Along the bike path are two bronze markers from the Springfield Conservancy District commemorating the long service of former employees.
