The Story: The Shelby County Historical Society draws its roots from several previous campaigns. Its early links lie with the Works Program Administration efforts in the 1930s and again in the months following WWII. One community leader with a passion for local history was William A. Ross, Jr. Upon his passing, the society undertook a new determination to share Shelby County history with its youth and today, the historical society building carries his name.
