Olmsted Point, Yosemite National Park No. 1
The Story: Climbing through Tioga Pass in Yosemite National Park, visitors can take in this vista from Olmsted Point. The white mountain left of center is called Clouds Rest while Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome lies in the distant center. Olmsted Point is named for landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. Olmsted. They made architectural impacts from New York’s Central Park, Dayton, Ohio’s Hills and Dales, and their designs were instrumental in preserving Yosemite in the 1860s.
